Street Sweeping

Street Sweeping Schedule

If you would like to check the frequency or date that a road or footpath in Tendring is due to be swept please choose one of the following links:

Street Sweeping Schedule (Excel format) - a filter is available to find the parish and road you wish to check

Unless sweeping takes place daily or weekly (which is clearly shown on the schedule), you will need to know the frequency of sweeping (either monthly, 8 weekly or 4 x a year) and also the week number, both of which can be found on the schedule. You can then view the Street Sweeping Schedule to see when the next sweep is due.

N.B. The schedule and calendar should be used with the explanatory notes below:

Explanatory Notes

Area, Number and Road (Column 1, 2 and 3)

Self-explanatory. It should be noted that generally unadopted roads are not included.

Limits (Column 4)

Details are only included where a road is split with different frequencies applying.

Footways (Column 5)

Includes grassed areas, greensward's and verges (with or without footpaths) forming part of the adopted highway. Identifies the frequency of visit and includes the removal of any dumped items and litter in the road channel or on the highway.

  • Monthly = Every 4 weeks
  • 8 Weekly = Every 8 weeks
  • 4 x pa = Every 12 weeks

Footways Day and Week (Column 6 and 7)

The day(s) should be self-explanatory.  For the week number refer to the Street Sweeping Calendar 2024.  Where any footway is identified under column 7 as 'Monthly' the week number must be checked against calendar A.  For footpaths identified under column 7 as '8 weekly' check against calendar B.  For footpaths identified under column 7 as '4 x pa' check against calendar C.

Carriageway (Channel) (Column 8)

This is normally undertaken mechanically but there are some areas where hand sweeping of channels takes place.

Carriageway (Column 9 and 10)

Comments as for column 6 and 7 above.
