Have your say on the Ardleigh Neighbourhood Plan

The public’s views are wanted on proposals to create a neighbourhood plan for Ardleigh.

The Parish Council has produced and submitted to Tendring District Council (TDC) a Draft Neighbourhood Plan for the area, along with several supporting documents.

Whilst the District’s own Local Plan was adopted in January 2022, parish and town councils can also prepare their own individual neighbourhood plans at any time.

These help local people directly shape the place where they live and work – allowing them to identify their own vision for how their area should develop for the future.

A six-week consultation on the Draft Neighbourhood Plan runs until 26 June, with residents and other interested parties invited to comment.

Gary Guiver, TDC Director for Planning, encouraged people to take part in the consultation.

“A neighbourhood plan gives communities more say in the future of their area, but it has to be right for that area,” Mr Guiver said.

“A lot of work has gone into preparing this draft, and I urge people in Ardleigh to read and comment on the proposals during the consultation period.”

TDC will be hosting two in-person consultation events at Ardleigh Village Hall (17 Station Road, CO7 7RS) on Monday, 22 May from 6-8pm and on Thursday, 1 June, from 11am-2pm. These events will coincide with exhibitions for the Tendring Colchester Border Garden Community consultation.

The Draft Neighbourhood Plan and supporting documents can be seen on the TDC website at www.tendringdc.uk/sub-content-pages/ardleigh-neighbourhood-plan.

To submit comments, contact the planning policy department by email at planning.policy@tendringdc.gov.uk or write to William Fuller at Tendring District Council, Town Hall, Station Road, Clacton-on-Sea, Essex CO15 1SE, by 5pm on Monday, 26 June.
